Camera Positioning Guide

Good placement matters more than megapixels. This guide helps you cover entry points and blind spots while avoiding glare, backlight, and dead zones.

   List your priorities

   Gate, front door, compound perimeter, and blind spots come first. Sketch the property and mark what each camera should see.

   Set height and angle

   Mount 2.5–3m high, angled down so faces and number plates are captured — not just the tops of heads.

   Avoid backlight

   Do not point cameras straight at the sun or a bright sky; you will get silhouettes. Favour positions where the subject is lit, not the background.

   Plan for power cuts

   For gates and perimeters, use solar or battery cameras so coverage continues when the grid is down.

   Verify coverage in the app

   Walk the boundary while watching the live view to confirm there are no gaps before you fix everything permanently.
